How to use this directory

A quick tour for doctoral students: how to search, what the labels mean, and how to reach a faculty member.

  1. 1

    Search and filter

Open Browse full directory and type into the search box. It matches names, degrees, and research interests — for example, typing “leadership” returns faculty with leadership expertise, and “DNP” returns nursing-practice faculty. Use the filters to narrow by terminal degree, research method (Qualitative, Quantitative, or Both), role (Chair or Committee), and appointment type.

  2. 2

    Read the faculty card

Each card shows the faculty member’s name, terminal degree and subject, and tags for their methods and roles. A Chair tag means they can chair a dissertation; a Committee tag means they can serve as a member. Full-time or Adjunct shows their appointment type.

  3. 3

    Check availability

Cards say “Accepting new students” or “Not available for new students.” Faculty profiles also show whether they are currently accepting chair assignments, committee assignments, or both. If a name is missing from a filtered Chair or Committee list, the faculty member is not accepting that type of assignment right now.

  4. 4

    Open a profile

Click any card to open the full profile — expertise, areas of research, methods, and a professional bio. For example, clicking Dr. Baker shows his ethical-leadership research and qualitative methodology before you decide to reach out.

  5. 5

    Contact them

On the profile page, press the Copy Dr. [Last name] email button (e.g. Copy Dr. Baker email). The address is copied to your clipboard — paste it into your email client. Introduce yourself, state your program and topic, and attach a short summary of your proposed study.

  6. 6

    Know the rule

A DNP student should only be chaired by a DNP mentor. Anyone holding a terminal degree may serve on the committee of any degree program. Questions? Email ogeradmin@stu.edu.
